Who am I, where do I come from. Where I come from tells about who I am. Where I went changes who I am, perhaps calls into question how I see the place where I was born.

wenn ich mich richtig erinnere is a search, a narrative – but a thousand separate stories; a question that cannot be answered. A search in my past whose sources continue to disappear every day, a search for who I am. A narrative: my family history, who my grandma was, where she came from, what she did, how my father was born, what she told me and what she didn’t tell me. A story about my family that changes its meaning depending on who is speaking. And then a question: is my identity something I determine or something I inherit?
