SPARK

Vendula Nováková is a Czech music theatre director and activist. She studied acting, film and theatre studies and theatre pedagogy in the Czech Republic and music theatre directing in Hamburg.

The focus of her directing work is on current music theatre and the collective development processes with contemporary composers. She understands music theatre as an unheard collage of sound and language fragments heard a thousand times.

She works regularly with the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra and has been a lecturer at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre since 2019. She is co-founder of the Hamburg music theatre collective DU#ENDE and artistic director of the “Stimme X Festival” for contemporary music theatre in northern Germany.
