Yiran Zhao studied composition with Guoping Jia, Caspar Johannes Walter, Erik Oña, Carola Bauckholt and Gordon Kampe. The highly regarded young artist now teaches herself, among others at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz or on behalf of Akademie der Künste Berlin.

Zhao has worked with numerous artists, groups and festivals in Europe, Asia and North America. As composer-performer, she forms the performance group OTHER EYE together with Kristine Lindemann. She lives and works in Germany.
