Rie Watanabe

Rie Watanabe studied percussion at the National University of Fine Arts and Music Tokyo and at the University of Music Karlsruhe. Since 2008 she works as a freelance musician with various ensembles of new music (Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien) and composers (Helmut Lachenmann, Nicolaus A. Huber, Yasutaki Inamori).

In 2011 Watanabe founded the “Duo Vertige” with Mirjam Schröder. Since 2014, the artist has been dealing with the estate of the Japanese composer Yuya Honda in order to maintain the relevance and availability of his works for posterity.
