Dutch mezzo-soprano Truike van der Poel trained as a classical philologist before studying choral conducting and singing in Rotterdam and The Hague. Her curiosity for the unknown led her over the years more and more to contemporary music and experimental music theater.

She is a welcome guest at international festivals and concert series of contemporary as well as improvised music and has recorded numerous works by René Leibowitz, Carola Bauckholt, Milica Djordjević and many others on CD. Since 2007 Truike van der Poel has been a member of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart.
