SPARK

Helena Bugallo was born in 1971 in Mar del Plata, Argentina. She studied piano (diploma) and musicology (doctorate) at the Conservatorio Gilardo Gilardi of La Plata (Argentina) and at the University at Buffalo (USA). Specialised in contemporary music, she has performed at international festivals such as Tanglewood, Warsaw Autumn and the Venice Biennale.

She has been a member of the Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo since 1998 and was part of Ensemble Phoenix Basel 2006-2016. She has been teaching piano at the Musik Akademie Basel since 2016 and researched Conlon Nancarrow’s works at the Paul Sacher Foundation until 2021.
